Sunday Morning Surprise

We have successfully transitioned Max from our bed to his big boy bed.  I made the mistake of letting him sleep with me when Max and I lived in Edmond.  Once we moved back to Arkansas we made sure we got Max back into his bed.  I'm amazed at how easy it was to get him to sleep in his bed, and even more thrilled that he sleeps all night.  BUT occasionally Charles and I will wake up and find Max in our bed.  The funny thing is how sneaky he is about getting into our bed.  He knows that if I hear him I will take him back to his room, but if he's really quiet I won't figure it out until the morning.  You would think that a 2 year old getting into my bed WITH his pillow would wake me, but apparently his middle name is stealth.  I would love to be a fly on the wall when his does this, I bet it's pretty funny.

So, when I rolled over Sunday morning I found this wonderful little surprise in the middle of my bed.  I love that the dogs love Max just as much as they love us.  Makes my heart happy!

Taking pictures made him move

Then my picture taking woke both of them up
I hope everyone was able to enjoy this nice weekend!

Pops and Gammy

This weekend Charles parents, Pops and Gammy (and we can't forget about Bob), came for a little visit.  We had a great time Saturday downtown having lunch at the flying fish (one of Charles' favorite places to eat) and then a nice walk around the river.  Since our afternoon was so busy we decided to stay in Saturday night and cookout some steaks.

Max's New Room

Max no longer has a playroom.  It was becoming a little bit too much work for me to keep up with 2 rooms, so we said goodbye to the playroom.  First, I had to go through all of his toys and decide what stuff needed to be boxed and what stuff could go into his bedroom.  Then, I had to find some storage solutions for the toys we were keeping.

I found these awesome baskets at Target!  I love that they have wheels and handles on them, Max is able to pull them in and out so easily.  Plus, they fit perfectly under his bed.  This was a great solution to our storage problem.

I purchased 2 of these storage shelves with baskets over a year ago for all of Max's things in his playroom.  Lucky for me it fits perfectly in front of his bed, and the other one is being used in his closet for shoes and more toy storage.

This is Max's reading corner.  My mom got Max this chair for his 1st birthday and he still loves sitting in it.  I found this adorable book rack on Etsy, and I am so pleased with how it turned out and the color is perfect in his room.  He loves the new book rack, he can now see the front of his favorite books without having to pull all of them out.

This space is the perfect spot for Max's drum set and art station.  We got this dresser from Charles' Great Aunt Juanita and it's just what we needed for Max's room.  Painting the dresser is definitely on my list of things to do.

I put a cork board on Max's door to display his word/letter/number of the day.  We pick a new card and display it here for a daily reminder of what we are learning.  Max selected A as the letter for the day!
I'm sure Max's room will always be a work in progress, but I'm very happy with how it turned out.  He is able to access all his toys and books with ease, and it's just as easy for him to pick up his toys and books as well.  Max loves his new room, and helps me keep it clean every day...well, at lease for now :)

School Report

We are thrilled that Max is enjoying school!

Basket Bowling

I purchased some baskets with wheels on them for Max's room.  Since he no longer has a playroom I needed storage for all his toys, found these baskets and they were perfect.  They slide right under his bed and slide out when he needs to use them.  What I didn't realize is that they can also be seen as a fun game on our tile floor.  During the snow storm Charles and Max figured out that they could have a little fun with these baskets.  It started with Max getting in and wanting Charles to push him.  Then, it turned into pushing him from one end of the house and see how far he could roll to the other.  After doing that for a while I saw a light bulb go off in both their heads.  And so they invented Basket Bowling.

Here is the video of just basket rolling.

Now they have discovered Basket Bowling.

As you can tell they played this game for hours.

It's always good to find an indoor sport to play when the weather is bad outside. Love my silly guys!

Sunday Funday

After Sebrina, Baby Zohan, Tiffany, James, and Baby Ace left Sunday Max and I decided to join Charles and Nick at the fishing pond.  I'm not going to call where we live the country, but we do have some open land and ponds in our area.  While Charles and Nick did their fishing thing Max and I walked around and explored the neighborhood.  Across from our neighborhood are two ponds and some open land that they are getting ready to build more houses on.

After our little adventure Max was pretty occupied with throwing rocks into the pond.  In fact, that activity kept him busy for almost 2 hours.

Oh, and I can't forget to mention that Charles and Nick did in fact catch some fish in those little ponds.  This was Max's first experience with fishing and seeing actual fish.  He thought the fish were really cool, and when he touched them he would say, Ooo the fish are dirty.  Good job Charles and Nick!

After the guys were done fishing we went back to our house, and waited for the rest of the Fazio clan to come over.  Riley and Max played in the backyard while the grown ups tried to sit and relax.  We ordered some pizza and watched Cats and Dogs with the kids.

We were all exhausted from our busy weekend and went to bed very early.  What a great weekend!

We Have Company!

We had another busy, but fun weekend.  Two of my best girlfriends came to town for a little visit.  They left Oklahoma City after work Friday and were going to be here later that night.  Around 11:30pm I gave Tiffany a call to see where they were.  Well, their car broke down on them and they were stuck on the side of the highway.  Fortunately they weren't that far from us, so we loaded up the car and went to get them.  James and his brother waited for the tow truck, and they were finally able to get it towed to the shop so it could be fixed that morning.  Thankfully the car was fixed before they had to leave Sunday.

Saturday James and his mom came to pick up Tiffany so they could celebrate James' mom and grandma's birthday.  So me, Bri, Charles and Max headed downtown for a little lunch at the Flying Fish and did some walking around the river.  It was such a beautiful day!

After our lunch and sight seeing we decided to head home and rest for a little bit.  After a couple of naps we got up and hung out with Max out in the backyard until Charles got home from the driving range.  Then, Charles fired up the grill and made us some yummy hamburgers.  After dinner we hung out in the backyard for just a little bit, it was getting chilly, and came back inside to watch a movie.

Busy Weekend

Wow, what a busy weekend!  Riley and Lucas came over Saturday for a little sleep over at our house.  The kids had a lot of fun playing, and even made dessert, rice crispy treats.  They watched tons of movies and finally crashed late Saturday night.  Thankfully they sleep in so we could get some rest too.

Then, we went to the Big Dam Bridge with the Fazio family on Sunday to do a little walking and site seeing.  It was a beautiful day!  The kids had a great time walking on the bridge and of course throwing rocks into the river.
