Wreath Project

I recently saw a wreath and thought to myself, hey I can probably make that.  So I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up some supplies.  I had a lot of fun putting these wreaths together!  One of my facebook friends asked me if I was planning on selling the wreaths, which got me to thinking.  Should I start doing more craft projects and selling them?  What do you guys think?  Would you buy these wreaths, and if so what would be a reasonable price to charge?

I can make different sizes and customize any color that you like.  And I can do different flowers as well.  I'm curious to see if anything comes from these new projects.  If not, I'm having a great time making them.

First Day of School

Today Max started his first day of school (Mother's Day Out)!  He was very excited about going to school until we actually got there.  He really wanted me to stay with him, but when I told him I was just dropping him off he lost it.  The teachers had to take him from me while he cried.  I had to walk away pretty quickly because I was getting a little sad too, and did actually cry when I got to the car.  I knew that he was going to be just fine, and this wasn't our first rodeo with the school drop-off.  I blamed the hormones on my emotional reaction.  When I picked him up he was all smiles, and the teachers said he had a great first day.  We talked about his day on the way home and he said he had a GREAT time, and that he really likes school.  I asked if he wanted to go back tomorrow and he said, Yes!  I knew he would have a blast at school, just have to get back into the swing of things.

Helping Animals, Just Like Mom

A couple days ago Charles and I saw a sign for a missing red female dachshund posted in our neighborhood.  Any time I see a sign for a missing pet I always keep my eyes peeled just in case.  Sure enough, yesterday Max and I were backing out of the drive way to head to the grocery store and what do I see...the missing dog.  I drive to where I saw the sign and immediately called the number.  I told her owner that if I catch her I will call her back and let her know.  So, Max and I went into the house and grabbed a hot dog to see if that would help us catch the sweet little girl.  Max is so cute...he's walking with me saying, come here dog we have a treat for you.  Charles should start worrying now if Max is anything like his mother when it comes to animals.  We finally corner the sweet little girl and she lays down on her side.  I let her sniff me and then I pick her up and take her into our house.  I called her owner back to let her know that she was safe in our house and we would have her until they were able to pick her up.  Abby's owners were able to pick her up that afternoon, and until they got there we made sure Abby felt very welcomed.  Her favorite spot was in my lap.  Max really wanted to get a picture with her and I tried my best, but she wasn't that crazy about him.  He moved around too much and was a little louder than she would have liked.  Now Abby is back home with her family!  So glad we were able to find that sweet little girl!

Max's New Favorite Book

I found this cute big brother book that Max loves.  He is so excited for his little sister to be here.  Here is our conversation from the other day.

Max:  Mom, when is Molly going to be home?
Mom:  She will be here after your birthday.
Max:  Oh yay, she will be here after my birthday!!!

Here is Max's new favorite book.

New Potty Books

We are trying to get Max interested in potty training so we thought why not pick up some new books that explain the process a little better.  Since then he's been showing more interest in potty training.  I just hope we can get this guy out of diapers before little sister gets here.  Wish us luck!

Library

Charles and I wanted to check out our local library to see what they had to offer for young children.  Max was very excited because his grandparents took him to the Norman library and it was pretty cool.  Unfortunately, our library didn't have as much stuff for younger kids but Max still ended up having a good time.  Thankfully we found some computers and he was able to play games that teach you more about letters and numbers.  He especially loved the games where he could play music.

Funland!

Saturday we went to Funland at Burns Park with our neighbors Dan and Kim and their twins Champ and Trinity.  We had no idea this place existed until Kim mentioned it to me.  Max had a blast!  I wish it was open during the fall season, but unfortunately they close at the end of September.  We will def be going back, just hope we can keep this cooler weather for a while.  Here are some pictures from our trip.

Artwork by Max - for Molly's Room

Since Max likes to draw and paint so much I knew that I wanted him to do a little creation for the nursery.  So, Max and I packed up and went to Hobby Lobby to pick up some nursery friendly paint colors.  I bought some linen paper, and had mattes made for frames we already had.  Then, I let the boy do his work and he had a blast doing it.  I think both pieces turned out great!  We did a special piece to put on her shelf...more on that later.  Here is the artist making his nursery masterpieces.

Painting #1

Painting #2

I already had two frames that I planned on using for these painting, the only thing I had to do was get them painted.  Like I said in a previous post, I decided to go with black frames for the nursery and the frames I wanted to use were brown.  Thankfully we had some black paint left over from the dresser update in Max's room.  I just gave these frames a little sanding and put about 3 coats of black paint on them.  I just love saving money and using things we already have in the house :)

Before

After

Last step, putting it all together.  Since the frames aren't a normal frame size I wasn't able to buy the pre-made mattes at Hobby Lobby.  But picking out a color and getting them cut was just as easy of a process.  The only hard part was picking out a color.  They had the mattes cut out for me within minutes.  Man I love Hobby Lobby!

Painting #2

I absolutely LOVE how these paintings turned out!  Max is very proud of them too.  He loves going into the nursery and looking at all the things he is giving the baby and showing me what all he has made.  He is going to be a GREAT big brother!
