We are trying to get Max interested in potty training so we thought why not pick up some new books that explain the process a little better. Since then he's been showing more interest in potty training. I just hope we can get this guy out of diapers before little sister gets here. Wish us luck!

Library
Charles and I wanted to check out our local library to see what they had to offer for young children. Max was very excited because his grandparents took him to the Norman library and it was pretty cool. Unfortunately, our library didn't have as much stuff for younger kids but Max still ended up having a good time. Thankfully we found some computers and he was able to play games that teach you more about letters and numbers. He especially loved the games where he could play music.

Funland!
Saturday we went to Funland at Burns Park with our neighbors Dan and Kim and their twins Champ and Trinity. We had no idea this place existed until Kim mentioned it to me. Max had a blast! I wish it was open during the fall season, but unfortunately they close at the end of September. We will def be going back, just hope we can keep this cooler weather for a while. Here are some pictures from our trip.

Artwork by Max - for Molly's Room
Since Max likes to draw and paint so much I knew that I wanted him to do a little creation for the nursery. So, Max and I packed up and went to Hobby Lobby to pick up some nursery friendly paint colors. I bought some linen paper, and had mattes made for frames we already had. Then, I let the boy do his work and he had a blast doing it. I think both pieces turned out great! We did a special piece to put on her shelf...more on that later. Here is the artist making his nursery masterpieces.
Painting #1
Painting #2
I already had two frames that I planned on using for these painting, the only thing I had to do was get them painted. Like I said in a previous post, I decided to go with black frames for the nursery and the frames I wanted to use were brown. Thankfully we had some black paint left over from the dresser update in Max's room. I just gave these frames a little sanding and put about 3 coats of black paint on them. I just love saving money and using things we already have in the house :)
Before
After
Last step, putting it all together. Since the frames aren't a normal frame size I wasn't able to buy the pre-made mattes at Hobby Lobby. But picking out a color and getting them cut was just as easy of a process. The only hard part was picking out a color. They had the mattes cut out for me within minutes. Man I love Hobby Lobby!

Painting #2
I absolutely LOVE how these paintings turned out! Max is very proud of them too. He loves going into the nursery and looking at all the things he is giving the baby and showing me what all he has made. He is going to be a GREAT big brother!

Playing in the Rain
Charles and Max were so excited to finally see rain that they ran outside to play in it. I had to grab my camera because these two were cracking me up. There were having a great time until the wind picked up our trash can a threw it down the street. Which scared Max and made Charles run down the street after it. After the trash can was back in our yard the rain started to let up. I got the boys some towels to dry off and they spent just a little bit more time outside.
After the storm the clouds were looking pretty crazy so I grabbed my camera again and took a few shots of the sky. One of these days I'm going to get a picture of lightning.
Max and the dogs had a great time playing outside after the rain, clouds, thunder and lightning went away. Plus, it was 78 degrees outside after the storm rolled through so we all hung outside just for a bit to enjoy the cooler weather.

Do It Yourself Project
I wanted to make a fabric bulletin board and frame it for pictures for the babies room, but had no idea where to start. So, on one of my many trips to Hobby Lobby I came across a fabric board that I loved. The colors and pattern match the babies room perfectly. One of the many things I love about Hobby Lobby is getting things half off. I'm not afraid to leave it at the store until it's half off the next week, and that's exactly what I did. Then, I waited until their open back ready made frames were half off as well. Then, I had Charles attach my board to the frame with some screws, and got exactly what I was looking for for under $30. When all else fails and what you are looking at seems insanely expensive think about doing the project yourself, and you will be amazed at how much money you can save.
This picture board matched the babies fitted crib sheet perfectly (these dots are a little bigger).
I decided to go with black frames in the nursery, so I found this simple black frame to put with the board. The frame is a 16x20.
This project turned out better than I could have imagined! I can't wait to put in on the wall!

My Weekend Find
I have been searching for things to store Max's lunch in when he goes to MDO so I don't have to put everything in ziploc bags. Well, this weekend I found it! We went to the Container Store Saturday because I saw these cute little lunch cubes in the paper. They are in the kitchen section of the store and are perfect! I can't wait to use them in a couple of weeks when Max goes back to school. I bought three of these lunch cubes, 2 in blue and 1 in green. Plus, you can use them if you want to take some food with you on a drive, you can take this with you to a restaurant if you have a picky eater, or if you just want to save money. I'm super pumped, thank you Container Store!
